Play Ball!

Saturday morning at the fields.

It seems no matter where we go, all Brody wants to do is dig in the dirt.

Chatty Seth

Seth is so chatty lately! I can't get him to say "mama" to save my life! You may need to turn up the volume in the video below (located below the "T" in "Tube").

oh look, they do!

How exciting! Mom and Dad, when we go camping again, I may just need to bring along some of these!

Indoor Camping

Guess what Kurt and I found out last night. If you turn on your burner to High (we have electric, not gas) and put a marshallow on a fork, you can toast it! If you turn out the lights, it is even more like a little campfire! mmmmm. I could only have one because of the whole *sugar* thing. Does anyone know if they make sugar-free marshmallows. ;o)

Seth - a cut above the rest

Seth had his first haircut today! He did so well and looks so cute!

Our pretty princess

We went to a birthday party for one of Brody's friends, Anna. I was so excited to buy "girly" stuff for her present. Brody really liked it too. He had to try some of the presents out before we wrapped them up. Kurt wasn't too happy about this.

Will and Maddie are 3!

We went to Salem/Blacksburg last weekend for the cousins birthday party. These are the presents they got from Grammy...

Brody ate cake.

Seth ate paint (don't ask).

Name that Gook

Brody, Seth, and I drove out to eat dinner at my parents campsite tonight. Seth ate leaves and pinecones. Brody played in the dirt and then ate lots of really bad-for-him stuff. Here is a pic of what was left over. See if you can name the two foods that are left on his face! Highlight the text here>Doritos and Marshmallows< to see the answer.

The end of summer

There is a definitely a crisp, fall feeling in the air. I LOVE it. Summer has become my least favorite season, probably because of the heat and shorts. Not to mention bathing suits! This summer was so hot that we spent most of our time inside because the heat index was too high for children. Sad.

But now, we have been spending so much time outside!

Last night we went to watch Daddy play softball. Brody spent the whole time digging in the dirt and Seth, who is still not fond of grass, sat on a blanket with me. Well, actually he crawled all over me and I sat on the blanket.

Today, I had one of the most wonderful mornings I have had in a long time. Don't get me wrong, I love to be with my kids. But after I dropped Brody off at preschool, Seth took a LONG nap. I opened the windows, cleaned my house, lit a Yankee Candle (Autumn Wreath, love it), turned on the radio, and SCRAPBOOKED. All by myself. Nobody crawling all over me. I didnt have to hide the pens and put my scissors/cutter up on the top shelf. I could leave the stamp pad out until I needed to use it again. *sigh* It was heaven.

Then, later today, Brody jumped on the trampoline at the neighbors house and then we played on the swingset until Daddy came home for dinner. Wonderful. Still summer, but so enjoyable!

Things I learned this summer:

Brody loves dirt.
Seth hates grass.
Watermelon means we will need to hose off.
Kids in the neigborhood are like ants. There is never just one.
I can "let go" and put the life of my child in another person's hands.
Kurt recovers from surgery faster than anyone on the planet.
Sugar can do crazy things to your body.
You must walk in the backyard at night with a flashlight or you can walk into some scary things.

Fireflies never seem to light when you are holding them to show a 2 year old.
2 year olds can feel pride, especially when the swim by themselves.
Brody is not quite ready to sit through a whole movie in the theater.
Nothing says loving to your husband like a clean house and dinner in the oven.
Brody doesn't like ice cream.
Time flies.

7 pounds!

So, since I cut out sugar and have now started limiting carbs (not NO carbs, just less), I have lost 7 pounds! Can I get a Woo Hoo?

Look out preschool...

... here comes Brody! Today was Brody's first day at preschool. From what I can tell, he played with red playdough, jumped over a jump rope?, sang a song (something about "oats" and "clicks"?) made something with his hand and dots, and ate his snack. Too fun! He cried when I dropped him off, which made me feel awful! But, he was happy when I picked him up. :)

Up Up and Away!

What an awesome morning! My uncle Bob (Hunka Bobby) has a pilot license and a 6 passenger plane. He was down visiting my mom and dad this weekend and had his plane with him. We thought it would be fun for Brody (and Poochie) to ride in an airplane, so they did!!! Brody even learned to give the "thumbs up".

Brody LOVED it! They flew over our and videotaped our house, too!

Thank You Hunka Bobby!!!

A Romp in the Grass

It was 70 degrees last night, my favorite temperature. So while Kurt was cutting the grass, I decided to take Seth and Brody out to play in the yard. It wasn't until I sat Seth down on the grass and saw his reaction that I realized...this was really the first time he had experienced grass. He sat for about 2 minutes in some grass down in Roanoke, but this was really the first long-term contact he had.

He really wasn't sure what he thought of it. He sat there and didn't move. He didn't even like to have his legs or hands in it. :o) It truly was adorable. I took a bazillion pictures and then brought out a big blanket for him, which he would crawl to the edge of, touch one finger onto the grass and then back up onto the blanket. ;o)

Needless to say, Seth might not be the great outdoorsman as his brother is, who isn't happy unless he is rolling in dirt.

Well, since we had the blanket out on the lawn in 70 degree weather and it was dinner time, we had a picnic under the moon. It was a wonderful evening.

Oh, and by the way...

I have pink eye again.

Comparison

I dont know why I am so fascinated with this. Area all moms of multiple kids amazed at how different or alike kids can be?

We put this outfit on Seth this morning and then remembered that we had a great picture of Brody in the same outfit. So, we decided to take the same picture to see just how different these kids are.

They are just both adorable, if you ask me!
