Okay, so I hate bugs. I hate them, but am also fascinated by them. I can get stuck looking at bugs online for entirely too long, which just happened to me. Here is a link with some INCREDIBLE bugs...

Please help us out... I have a new poll on the right side of my blog. It would help us tremendously to hear your viewpoint on the matter!
Thanks! :)

Jesus, and his old pal, Cap'n Crunch

Let me preface this by telling you that the Food Lion near my house (yes, .75 miles away) was out of Cap'n Crunch the last time we went. It didn't go over too well with Brody.
Today, in the car, I heard Brody talking to (what I thought was) himself in the back seat. When I asked him what he was saying, he told me he was praying to Jesus. I asked him what he was saying to Jesus.
Brody has prayed to Jesus that Jesus would "come down and put more Cap'n Crunch cereal in the store".
At least he is turning to the Lord when he "needs" him, huh?

Someone save me from myself!
I picked the kids up today from daycare/school and then stopped at the Food Lion to pick up some stuff for dinner. Just for kicks, I set the odometer at 0 when I left the store to see how far it is to our house. Door to door it is... .7 miles! 3/4 of a mile! Not a mile! Do you know how many times I have jumped in the car to go LESS THAN A MILE to pick up something from the store?
So, I had this exciting little moment where I pictured myself walking to the store whenever I needed to get something, getting exercise, having time with my kids, being outside, etc...
...and then the excuses set in...
1. How do I walk a 1 and a 3 year old to the store and then be able to carry back all the groceries?
2. How do I get things like milk/eggs back without spoiling?
3. How hot is too hot to have my kids walking/riding that far?
4. How do I manage bags, stroller, and a 3 year old that likes to randomly run off?
I REALLY want to be able to just walk to the store and I would love for someone out there to invalidate all of my excuses!

Myrtle Beach, SC

We just got back from the beach. Sorry to be so long without a post. I am going through my 700+ photos and will post just a few. I promise, just a few. :) Here is one to start, though. We got up most mornings before the rest of the family and headed down to the beach to collect sea shells. It was nice to see the sunrise with all my boys!

Water,water, everywhere
I am always envious of the people that prefer water to drink. I have never liked to drink water. I would much rather have a Diet Caffeine Free Coke. In fact, I have noticed that there are days I will drink 4 cans of it while around the house. Sad.
So... I have made a COMPLETELY CRAZY pact with myself, and now, with all of you since I am admitting it in public.
Starting this past 9/11, I am ONLY DRINKING WATER for a full year. And not the carbonated and flavored water that I like from WalMart, plain water. This freaks me out but I can't imagine how much healthier I will be cutting out the soda and drinking that much water.
It is much cheaper (unless you buy bottled, which we don't usually) and is supposed to be the best thing to put into your body.
So... off we go. This is day 4 and so far so good! I have to admit, though, I do miss carbonation! And I am sure a glass of wine every now and then will be missed as well!

Beach in 2 days!
We are off to the beach in 2 days! Brody finally *Gets It* that we will all be going away to go to another house and go to the beach. He wants to go now. Is it now? Now?
I am in the process of trying to pack up everything that we own. Apparently, we won't have enough Jeep space, so I am going to have to figure out what is *really* necessary, and what is only a by-product of my "be prepared for anything" mentality.

Yep. I give up.
Celebrity Look Alikes #2
Okay, so I posted the Celebrity look-alikes thingy and didn't really think I looked like any of the people... so I chalked it up to the face recognition software not being too good... but THEN I saw my friends Rachel and Sam had each done one and they looked JUST LIKE THEM! So I thought I would redo it with a better photo... and I STILL don't think I look like any of these people... AND the funny thing... NONE of the original people showed up on my second attempt. And don't even get me started that Gary Sinise is the 2nd closest to being my match.
Maybe I should go for the best out of 3? Or maybe I should just face the facts that I just don't have celeb looks, except for Gary Sinise!

Kiss My Grits!

Kurt can attest to this... I can't get this song out of my head!!!!! Anybody else remember this show? I LOVED it!
Oh, and here is the opening video if you are interested!

My Celebrity Look-alikes
Labor Day in Blacksburg!
Teddy Bear Tea
Last week, Brody went to a "Teddy Bear Tea" to meet his new teachers. He did great! He doesn't have a favorite Teddy Bear, so we called it "Poochie Tea". Here he is.

Pull Ups for Seth

Yep. Seth has gone peepee on the potty again. I am pretty sure this isn't a fluke. Because it is such a big pain to keep pulling his diaper on and off, he has now switched over to pull ups. I don't remember when we did it with Brody, but I am almost positive he was well over 2!
Wow. This is just crazy!
You rock, Seth!

Halloween in August
It is still August. School hasn't even started yet. We still have a beach vacation planned for next month, but.... I just bought Brody's Halloween costume. ;) How is that for being proactive?
As a new parent, nobody tells you that you have to buy your Halloween costume MONTHS in advance if you want to get the costume your kid REALLY wants. When you have a baby, you just pick what you want your kids to be. No problem. see photo.

But then, when they get old enough, like Brody is now, he wants to be a specific thing... and that costume sells out before August! Lordy.
So, I had to go on Ebay and buy the LAST 'Hot Wheels World Racer costume' that exists on the planet. Said costume will be enormous on him, as he wears a size 2T and the costume is for a large boy, size 7. So, we are going to put my sewing skills to the test and see just how crafty I can be.
So, a word of wisdom, go NOW and buy that special costume... or you may be too late!

Can I get a Hip Hip for Me?!
Hip Hip Hooray! After MONTHS of not going to the gym because of my broken foot (big excuse), I finally returned to the Y this morning. A for effort! Big pat on my back! It is so EASY to want to stay home in my pjs!
