Welcome Back, Pa Chuck!

Many of you have asked how my dad is doing. I am so sorry that it has taken me this long to get back to you (and in a blog post, at that!)

Dad went into the hospital last Saturday and was only semi-conscious. My mom had found him that morning and we know he had been up some time in the evening, but had fallen in their family room.

Over the next few days, he became completely incoherent and was hallucinating. There were at least 2 days where he did not acknowledge any of us in his family and was having conversations with people from his past, etc...

We were mighty scared and had a very trying few days.

After a LONG night of medicine-induced sleep, he woke up the other day and knew who all of us were. He was making sense and realized that he was in a hospital. It was quite a wonderful awakening!

It turns out that he had been prescribed some pain pills (for Shingles, another story completely) plus some sleeping/relaxant pills and the two of those together wreaked havoc in his brain.

I am very happy to say that he is back to his old self and will be going home today!

Praise God!

Thank you so much to all of you for your kind words and prayers!

And welcome back, Dad. We REALLY missed you!

Jen, I am so glad, we were so worried over here - and I hate to keep calling and asking (I am sure you were getting a million phone calls/emails.) I'm so very happy he's doing well and that you posted it for us. That has GOT to be a relief to you and your family to have your dad back safe and sound!

Your dad is a soldier! I always remember your parents and how sweet they were when i met them at your wedding. WOW that was a long time ago! I'm glad to hear he's feeling better and they are both doing well.

Jen, I'm so glad to hear your dad is doing better. My mom recently had a scare with combining Rx drugs too. Luckily for us my brother is a pharamacist and was able to quickly spot the dangerous reaction. We will continue to pray for you dad's complete recovery. Lora
